Every once in a while, every now and then, I have one of those unforgettable moments that I won't forget for a long time. Maybe never. I played the new Zanies Comedy Club over the post-Christmas holiday - December 26 thru 28. It was a highlight for a lot of reasons. First, I met with old friends in the business: Vince Maranto, Bert and Sally Haas, and some folks from the Chicago arts/theater/comedy community who came out to Rosemont for the shows. I worked with some of the new comedians who are just starting out (I'll be opening for them soon!) and the staff (THANK YOU CINDY!) at the club who are some of the best anywhere. zanies comedy clubMy wife and sons joined me and we all spent the weekend together, seeing family and friends. It was hurried and crazy but it somehow worked, many came to one of the shows and it's always so great seeing everyone especially since we're so far away. Our kids are starting their careers and lives so this was our last chance (I think) to get away and see people as a family. Adding to the craziness, a bunch of old college friends from The University of Illinois and the Sigma Chi Fraternity came out. It was as if we'd never lost touch and had seen one another yesterday. Finally the fans who have been supporting me for many years came out and paid the cover charge to watch me spin my tales and sing my songs, work with the muses I call Romeo and Paco, and so on, doing me the greatest honor of all. What a way to start the new year! This New Year's Eve I'll be in Madison, Tennessee, just north of Nashville! Showtime is 7pm at The Cornerstone Church - get your tix at www.cornerstonenashville.org.
