Significant Sig

March 17, 2020

I was recently named a “Significant Sig” by my fraternity, Sigma Chi. It’s an honor I’m not taking lightly. This is something I was not expecting to ever be considered for, and something that means a great deal to me personally.

I’m humbled and grateful and probably undeserving. There are a lot of great people who were at the fraternity during my time at The University of Illinois. That includes many whose work eclipses my humble “career” on so many levels it’s impossible to name them all. Doctors, judges, international bankers, and political movers and shakers. One of them is a NASA astronaut (Scott Altman, and he’s a Significant Sig, as he should be.)

This is an award I will cherish for the rest of my time on Earth, and I cannot thank enough the people who were instrumental in making this happen.
Mark Anderson and Peter Steger – you have my eternal thanks.

I’ve received some notable commendations and other honors over the years. I got a couple of citations in high school, including a partial academic scholarship. The University of Illinois varsity football team gave me a singular trophy after my senior season. I’ve received all kinds of plaques and special commendations during my professional life. And I earned the Star Search Grand Champion prize way back when.

This is something special and I am thrilled beyond anything I could write.

An outstanding evening with Taylor last night

March 7, 2020

We had an outstanding evening with Taylor last night. He was funny, gracious, authentic, entertaining, and personable. The kids in our audience were rolling and the adults enjoyed themselves completely. Taylor, himself, was laid back and so easy to work with. It was a great event that people will be talking about for awhile. Thanks for your help in setting it up and working through the re-scheduling. Please pass along to Taylor that his humor and message were well received.
